About Us

“There is no greater joy for me than being in the gardens and ending with a basket of cut flowers in the studio. Locally grown flowers are truly spectacular, and arranging them naturally is our passion at The Cutting Garden.”

Growing up with an English mother, flowers were part of our every day. We read about them, grew them, admired other peoples’ and we were expected to identify the important ones.

Many years ago, my husband and I purchased an old farmhouse in Southern Connecticut. The sale happened very quickly with all the property under deep snow. When spring came and the snow melted that first year, I found the bones of a once loved, but very neglected, garden. And so began a very happy labor of love as I worked the garden beds and borders, reclaiming this old property while raising our children. We now have abundant herbaceous borders, 2 large production cutting gardens, and a meadow in progress.

There is no greater joy for me than being in the gardens and ending with a basket of cut flowers in the studio. Locally grown flowers are truly spectacular, and arranging them naturally is our passion at The Cutting Garden.

Since beginning this journey of The Cutting Garden, my team has happily expanded to include 2 other fine gardeners and great friends. Both Tory and Tracy bring years of experience growing and studying gardening. They bring to our group great knowledge of soil science, pest/disease awareness and tree care. We all adore flowers, love being in the dirt and figuring out the best plant solutions for a garden. Our collaborative effort yields better results.

We truly look forward to sharing our passion for gardens and local flowers with our clients. We love our job, it’s wonderful to bring people joy.
